I guess I'll introduce myself. My name is Ellena. I am turning 30 next month, and I'm the mom of 4 children under the age of 3! I have TWO sets of TWINS born 2 years 3 months apart! We tried for years to get pregnant on our own. Finally after 4 IVF attempts we conceived our now almost 3 year old fraternal twin daughters Kayla and Haley. I had complications during that pregnancy, and ended up on bedrest in the hospital fighting off early labor from 29 weeks to 33 weeks 5 days when they were born. Kayla spent 2 1/2 weeks in the NICU and Haley spent 5 weeks in the NICU (due to a collapsed lung). You would never know to look at them today that they were born 6 weeks 2 days early! When they were 1 1/2 we decided to try IVF one last time in the hopes of having a 3rd child. We didn't want to wait too long inbetween since our girls are so close. We wanted a 3rd child to be close enough in age to play with the girls as well. Well, we conceived twins again! At first we were told it was 2 more girls - my husband just laughed, shook his head, and joked about building a man-cave out back! About a month later we were told that we were getting one boy out of the bunch after all, and my husband was ecstatic! Our girl/boy twins are now almost 5 months old. We are very busy, and so very blessed. :)

My husband and I met in 2000, we started dating in 2001, got engaged in 2002, and were married on March 29th 2003. We began trying to start a family in November of 2004, but were unable to get pregnant on our own. After 3 failed attempts at In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) our 4th cycle finally worked, and we had our fraternal twin girls Kayla Danielle and Haley Ellen September 5, 2007! We wanted a 3rd child, and we didn't want to risk having one more too far apart in age from our girls. We felt that with the close bond they shared as twins the best way to make sure a 3rd child wasn't left out was to have them all be close enough in age to be "friends". Well, BAM, we got pregnant with a 2nd set of twins! Our set of girl/boy twins Olivia Marian and Aiden Thomas were born December 14, 2009, 2 years 3 months younger than our girls. We are so very busy, but so very blessed!

Wow! Congratulations! What a beautiful family you've created!
ReplyDeleteI have one set of b/g twins that will be 2 in July (My oldest is 4 next week) and I want one or two more (born separately) and people tease me "What if you get twins again...or triplets?" I keep thinking, "Yeah right! What are the odds?" I guess it can happen! It's a handful, but an awesome miracle!
